Dear patient, we have created this checklist to help you prepare for your upcoming surgery.

As you comply with each instruction check the box to the right.

1. Ten (10) days prior to surgery.


Stop all medications that are:


Anti-inflammatory: Like MOTRIN, ADVIL, DRISTAN, FELDENE, IBUPROFENO, DICLOFENAC, MEFENAIC ACID, NAPROXEN or ALEVE, INDOMETACIN.
Blood thinners: Like WARFARIN or COUMADIN, HEPARIN, HEPARIN SODIUM, FRAXIPARIN, CLOPIDROGREL, CLAVEX, DIPYRIDAMOL, LOVENOX, Aspirin, Ecotrin or medications that contain salicylic acid as ALKASELTZER.
Natural remedies or over the counter medications: Like VITAMIN E, GINGO VILOBA, garlic, OMEGA 3, EPA, ginger, GINSENG and multivitamins with Vitamin E supplements

If you are taking any of the above medications please inform your anesthesiologist.

  • Take 1 gr of vitamin C once a day up to 1 day before surgery.
  • Stop SMOKING since nicotine reduces blood flow to the skin and can cause significant healing complications
  • The recommended lab tests must be performed and the results sent to your surgeon consultorioriascos@gmail.com and to the anesthesiologist carlosalberto.bonilla@imbanaco.com.co. Fasting and no alcohol consumption are required for these tests.
  • Call the office if any abnormal health changes occur as fever, chills, malaise, abscesses or lesions on the skin

2. Thres (3) days prior to surgery

 

    • Schedule an appointment with the anesthesiologist, Doctor Carlos Alberto Bonilla.

Appointment Cost COP$350.000

Additional fees will be charged if you require extra treatments, tests or appointments

    • After the appointment with the anesthesiologist the following documents and processes are required:

IT IS IMPORTANT TO SHOW PROOF OF IDENTITY (ID OR PASSPORT)

• Get policy

• Make deposit at clinic treasury

• Pay for your surgery

    • Bring the following garments:

Scarf, Sun glasses, Bras (2), Front button-up blouse, Girdles (2), plus One pack of heavy flow Menstrual Pads, and Chlorexhidine soap.

  • Additional costs to the procedure charges include all post-surgery medications, topical and dietary.

3. A day (1) prior to surgery

 

    • You will be contacted by the clinic´s nurse to verify your compliance with the pre-surgery instructions.

You will receive a check-up call from our nurse in the clinic. If you do not get the call please contact Dr. Riasco’s secretary at +57 (602) 682-1000 ext. 15578. This call is important to clear you for surgery.

    • The night before, and day of surgery use a 2% chlorexhidine soap provided by the office. Use Johnson shampoo to wash your hair the morning of surgery. These precautions will decrease the bacteria on the skin and thereby decrease the risk of infection

Do not apply any make-up or creams of any kind.

 

  • Take 1 a tablet of Alprazolam, 0,25 mg, at 10 PM. Tablets will be provided by the office.

4. Surgery Day

 

  • Wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes, preferably cotton. A front button-up blouse is recommended. Use safe and comfortable shoes.
  • DO NOT apply makeup, creams, lotions, hair gels, sprays, perfumes, powder, or deodorant. Using these products will add bacteria to the skin and increase the risk of infection Remove all nail polish.
  • Do not wear contact lens.
  • Do not wear any jewelry, piercings, or accessories.
  • Any cash or valuable objects need to be handed out to the person taking you to the procedure.
  • Patients with abdominoplasty and/or facial surgery will require a nurse during the first night after surgery.
