The lower back of the leg, located below the hamstring behind the knee, is known as the calf.

In an article published in the journal, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Benslimane F. analyzed the legs of models, athletes as well as various photographs to determine the features that make legs look more attractive. The most important factor identified by the study was the straightness of the legs from the thighs to the ankle. Calf augmentation can be used to contribute significantly to improve leg attractiveness by adjusting calf size and volume, thus providing aesthetic balance to the lower leg. Female legs flow gently around a more moderately size and defined calf, compared to the male calf , tapering into a delicate ankle. Using both calf augmentation and liposcupluturing of the calf and thigh, the leg straightness can be adjusted, increasing it´s attractiveness.

The use of implants is chosen to increase muscle bulk or definition, especially to the upper, inner calf. The silicone implants used are anatomically shaped and are placed over the muscle below the fascia (i.e. a thick fibrous membrane that encases de muscle). The procedure is carried out using local anaesthesia and minimal sedation. It is performed a small incision (1 to 1.5 inches) behind the knee and takes approximately half an hour.

Tip: ‘The use of high heels enhances the convexity of the upper calf muscles, while making the ankle region appear even thinner, more fragile and feminine hence more attractive and beautiful’
